Survivability
The use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) within 3–5 min of collapse can produce survival rates as high as 70%.

Seconds Count
For every minute that passes without effective CPR & defibrillation, there is a 10% drop in chances of survival.
Why get an AED?
Anyone, at any time or place, can have a sudden cardiac arrest. It differs from a heart attack, which occurs when blood flow to the heart is restricted. A sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. When someone is suffering a cardiac arrest, there are usually no apparent signs of life.
The only known treatment for a cardiac arrest is defibrillation. A defibrillator is a device that delivers a high-energy electric shock to a person in cardiac arrest through the chest wall. This high-energy shock is referred to as defibrillation.
