Fire Training Course FAQs

  • The Fire Safety Awareness Course at NR Medical Training is a short, accredited course designed to give employees a clear understanding of basic fire safety in the workplace. It covers how fires start, how they spread, and what to do in the event of an emergency. The course is certified by Qualsafe Awards and is ideal for staff at all levels, especially those new to the workplace or in low-risk environments.

  • These courses are suitable for anyone who needs a basic understanding of fire safety, including office staff, retail workers, and employees in care settings. It’s especially useful for businesses wanting to meet their legal health and safety requirements by ensuring all team members receive consistent and professional fire safety training.

  • The Level 1 Fire Safety Awareness Course takes approximately 3 hours to complete and is delivered in a face-to-face classroom setting. It can be held on-site at your business premises or at one of NR Medical Training’s dedicated training venues.

Our Level 2 Course is more advanced, and it takes 1 day to complete.

  • You’ll learn how to recognise fire risks in the workplace, understand how fires start and spread, and gain knowledge of evacuation procedures. The course also covers the fire triangle, common causes of workplace fires, and how to respond safely and appropriately during an incident.

  • Yes. This fire safety course is regulated by Ofqual and accredited by Qualsafe Awards, making it a recognised qualification across the UK. On successful completion, your staff will receive a nationally recognised Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness or a Level 2 Award in Fire Safety.

  • No – our Fire Safety Awareness courses do not include live fire extinguisher practice. While this used to be a common feature of older Fire Marshal training, it’s no longer a requirement for Qualsafe Awards certification.

We’ve chosen not to include this element due to several factors – cost, insurance limitations, environmental impact, and health and safety considerations. Instead, we focus on ensuring learners are confident in identifying the right extinguisher for the job, understanding how to use it safely, and knowing when (and when not) to attempt to tackle a fire.
