  • Joe Dix Foundation

Catastrophic Bleeding Training For Young People

In April 2024 we teamed up once more with The Joe Dix Foundation. This charity, passionately led by Emma and Phil Dix, focuses on combating child criminal exploitation (CCE) and was established in memory of their son, Joe Dix, who tragically lost his life due to criminal exploitation. In a powerful collaboration, NR Medical Training partnered with the foundation to deliver catastrophic bleeding training, targeting young individuals at the Norwich City Football Club's Lotus Training Academy.

Over the course of two evenings, this partnership brought together the expertise of both organisations in a concerted effort to educate and empower. Emma and Phil Dix delivered heartfelt and enlightening talks on the perils of CCE, sharing vital knowledge and personal insights to help young attendees understand and recognise the signs of exploitation. Following these talks, NR Medical Training stepped in with practical training sessions, utilising prosthetic limbs to demonstrate crucial techniques such as wound packing and the application of tourniquets.

This initiative not only provided essential skills that could one day save lives but also played a crucial role in raising awareness about CCE amongst youth. By combining real-life stories with hands-on training, NR Medical Training and the Joe Dix Foundation have created a formidable force against the exploitation of young people, illustrating the power of community involvement and education in tackling such critical issues. This partnership exemplifies NR Medical Training's commitment to their ethos of engaging, educating, and empowering individuals through expertly delivered training sessions.

  • Joe Dix Foundation & NR Medical Training

    Supporting The Joe Dix Foundation

NR Medical Training is proud to collaborate with the Joe Dix Foundation, an initiative that closely aligns with our core values of delivering impactful and engaging educational experiences. This partnership is an extension of our dedication to community welfare, focusing on empowering young people with essential knowledge and skills for their safety.

Founded in memory of Joe Dix, the Joe Dix Foundation is spearheaded by Emma Dix, Joe's mother, and Lorraine Bliss. Their mission is to raise awareness about child criminal exploitation, aiming to educate young people on recognising the signs and safeguarding themselves against these dangers. The foundation's work is pivotal in fostering safe and informed communities, and we are honoured to contribute to this noble cause.

Our collaboration involves a series of workshops across local schools and youth groups. These workshops are a blend of heartfelt storytelling and practical training. Emma Dix courageously shares Joe's story, a powerful narrative that resonates with young audiences, driving home the importance of vigilance and awareness in their daily lives.

Complementing these poignant sessions, our team at NR Medical Training steps in to equip these young individuals with vital skills. Our experts, with their real-world experience and exceptional storytelling abilities, teach techniques for stopping catastrophic bleeding and providing basic life support. These are not just skills but invaluable tools that can make a significant difference in critical situations.

In these workshops, we focus on hands-on, face-to-face training – a method we staunchly believe in. This approach ensures that the young participants are not only informed but also confidently prepared to act if the need arises. Our goal is to create a generation that is not only aware of the dangers they might face but also capable of protecting themselves and others.

Our involvement with the Joe Dix Foundation is a reflection of our commitment to community engagement. By teaching these life-saving skills, we aim to empower young people, giving them the confidence to act decisively and knowledgeably in emergency situations. This initiative is a crucial step towards building safer, more resilient communities.

Through our partnership with the Joe Dix Foundation, we continue to uphold our tagline: Engaging, Educating, Empowering. Together, we are making a tangible difference, one workshop at a time.

  • Sepsis Training For Care & Support Organisations

Sepsis is a major healthcare challenge in the UK and around the world. Every year, sepsis leads to the death of 48,000 people in the UK and millions more globally. Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition caused by infection. It occurs when an infection triggers a violent immune response in the body. If sepsis is not treated quickly, it can lead to organ failure and death.

We’re passionate about increasing awareness around sepsis especially for those on the front lines of care provision. We know that early recognition of sepsis can save many lives. This is why we developed a bespoke sepsis awareness course which is CQC compliant and is co-authored and endorsed by The UK Sepsis Trust.

We have delivered many sessions already and we have many more booked in. The feedback we’ve received so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

This course is ran not for profit, in order for us to make it as accessible as possible to those in care and support organisations.

  • Free Youth Engagement Sessions

The evidence is clear that better education and early recognition of sudden illness or injury leads to significantly better outcomes. For example "There is huge geographical variation in out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) outcomes, with some localities leading the way. In Norway, where CPR has been part of the national school curriculum since 1961, the average survival from OHCA is 25%." (The Lancet, 2018). Conversely "In the UK there are over 30,000 OHCA a year where emergency medical services attempt to resuscitate the victim. However, the survival rate is low – just 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an OHCA." (Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrests, 2020).

The big question therefore is; If Norway can achieve this then why can't we?

We strongly believe that if young people undertake first aid training early then we can embed the skills necessary for them to care for someone who is injured or unwell, and perhaps even save someone's life.

We’re committed to providing free drop in sessions for youth groups.
