Why Farms Need Specialist First Aid.

According to the HSE, agriculture accounts for around 20% of all workplace fatalities despite employing just 1% of the workforce. Many incidents happen far from the nearest emergency services, making immediate first aid essential.

Common farm emergencies include:

  • Machinery entanglements (PTO shafts, augers, balers)

  • Crush injuries from vehicles or falling objects

  • Livestock-related trauma (kicks, crushes, bites)

  • Chemical or pesticide exposure

  • Severe bleeding from tools or equipment

  • Anaphylaxis from stings or bites

  • Head injuries, fractures, and spinal trauma
