First Aid at Work Requalification Course (FAW Renewal)
Renew your First Aid at Work certificate with practical, hands-on training that reflects real workplace emergencies.
If your First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate is coming up to expiry, this course allows you to renew it without repeating the full 3-day programme.
It’s a 2-day requalification course designed to refresh your skills, rebuild confidence, and make sure you can still respond properly when it matters.
This isn’t about sitting through theory again. It’s about getting hands back on skills and making sure they still work under pressure.
Who is this course for?
This course is for learners who:
already hold a First Aid at Work certificate
need to renew it before (or shortly after) expiry
want a practical refresher rather than starting again
⚠️ Important:
Learners must hold a valid FAW certificate (or be within a short grace period). If your certificate has lapsed for a longer period, you’ll need to complete the full course again.
How long is the course?
2 days
Delivered at your workplace or a suitable venue
Fully compliant with current UK first aid standards
How the course is structured
This is not a cut-down theory course.
It follows a structured refresh of the full FAW skillset, with a strong focus on practical application.
Day 1 – Core life-saving skills refresh
Scene assessment and primary survey
CPR and AED (with repeated practice)
Choking management
Unconscious casualty and seizures
Bleeding and shock
Minor injuries
Includes both practical assessment and theory check
Day 2 – Injury and illness management
Asthma, anaphylaxis and major illnesses
Heart attack and stroke
Fractures and musculoskeletal injuries
Head and spinal injuries
Burns and scalds
Secondary survey
Followed by final assessment and course closure
What makes this different
A lot of requalification courses drift into “tick box” territory.
That’s not how we run it.
You’ll:
practise skills repeatedly, not just once
work through realistic scenarios
be challenged to make decisions, not just follow steps
be taught by clinicians who deal with this in real life
It’s about making sure your first aid actually holds up outside the classroom.
Assessment
You’ll be assessed through:
continuous practical observation
short multiple choice assessments
This mirrors the structure set out in the awarding body requirements
Successful learners receive a Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years.
Do I need to retake the full course?
If your certificate is still valid (or only recently expired), you can take this 2-day requalification course.
If your certificate has been expired for longer, you’ll usually need to complete the full course again.
Where this sits alongside other courses
EFAW (1 day) → basic workplace cover
FAW (3 day) → full first aider qualification
FAW Requalification (2 day) → renewal of FAW
